New Year Message

In the Beginning

Oftentimes as we approach the dawn of a new year, we make New Years resolutions. A resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. Some people set weight loss goals, commit to traveling more or plan to save money.

For most, thoughts of these resolutions are signs of new beginning(s). They bring freshness, a sense of expectancy and even some excitement.

I think we all can attest to the fact that whether we have actually fulfilled these resolutions or not it felt good to begin the year with a goal in mind.

From the beginning of time, God’s desire is and has been that His people would walk closely with Him. As we move into a new year, pray and ask God for His guidance and direction. That our goals would align with his will as we come to know Him more through studying and reading the scriptures.

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14 NIV
